Hardy Stock Heritage Farm
New Sweden , Maine, USA
Hardy Stock Heritage Farm is located in Northern Maine. We are a farm dedicated to the preservation of old hardy heritage landrace breeds of livestock, and Gamprs. We raise a large flock of Icelandic Sheep, train and find good homes for our American Mustang Horses, raise various forms of free range poultry (Ducks, Pheasants, Quail, Chickens, Turkeys), pasture raised Rabbits, grass fed Cattle, and our Cats.
We are best known for our Icelandic sheep, wether it be for breeding stock, wool, meat, or craft products. Our dogs are well known, respected and admired by all who meet them and they thoroughly enjoy doing their job. Our farm is surrounded by thousands of acres of protected true wilderness, containing large populations of Coywolves (Eastern Coyote/wolf mix), regular sized Coyotes, wintering Canadian Wolves, Black Bear, Bobcats, Lynx, Fisher, Pine Martin, plus other various small predators and birds of prey (Eagles and Hawks). Although our pack is young, they have done an excellent job at bonding with our various livestock, as well as protecting them, as we have not lost a single animal to predation under their protection.
We are a large family with a large range in ages, from adult to young children, and the Gamprs are an integral part of our family life. The Gamprs are allowed to come in and out of the house, barns and the various pastures at their discretion. We work daily with our Gamprs by our sides, no matter the weather. We are proud to be a team member of both AGCA and AGC, in order to help promote and preserve the genetic diversity and superb attributes of this incredible agricultural working dog breed. We love our Gamprs!
